Bakery Cake Decorator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Bakery Cake Decorator to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a Bakery Cake Decorator, you will be responsible for creating and decorating cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Decorate Cakes and Pastries: Use your artistic talents to build and finish all specialty bakery goods, ensuring every detail is just right.
  
• Provide Excellent Customer Service: Address customers' needs in a timely and effective manner, model suggestive selling techniques, and answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  
• Support Team Members: Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other Team Members.
  
• Maintain a Clean and Sanitary Environment: Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, and ensure proper product rotation within the display case.
  
• Perform Opening, Mid, and Closing Duties: Ensure accuracy of signage and pricing, and perform other duties as assigned.
  
  
  Requirements:
  
  To be successful in this role, you will need:
  
  
  • 
    
  • Cake Decorating Skills: Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills, including intermediate piping techniques and the ability to create decorative flowers and borders.
    
  • Color Theory: Understand color theory as it pertains to blending buttercream colors and coordinating complementing palettes.
    
  • Time Management: Effective time management and organization skills, including ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures.
    
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
    
    
    Experience:
    
    A minimum of 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience is required. Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail is preferred.
    
    Physical Requirements:
    
    Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
