Job Description:
Job Summary
As a Produce Order Writer at Whole Foods Market, you will be
responsible for purchasing and replenishing produce through proper
buying procedures. This role entails monitoring and acting upon
open PO reports for both purchases and credits in an accurate and
timely manner. You will also control spoilage and shrink, achieve
turn goals, and participate in inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchasing and replenishing produce through proper buying
procedures
- Monitoring and acting upon open PO reports for both purchases
and credits
- Controlling spoilage and shrink, achieving turn goals, and
participating in inventory management
- Completing spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep
worksheets as required
- Maximizing sales potential through effective and proper
procedures for stocking and merchandising products
- Ensuring orders for product are timely and accurate to monitor
inventory turns
- Overseeing customer special order procedure
- Analyzing and controlling product transfers, waste, and
spoilage
- Supporting leadership in conducting inventories
- Maintaining financial profitability by meeting and exceeding
purchasing and sales targets
- Providing excellent customer service, addressing needs of
customers in a timely and effective manner, and modeling suggestive
selling techniques
Requirements
- Extensive produce product knowledge, including production,
distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends
- Familiarity and/or willingness to learn about products,
nutritional information, and other areas of study
- Working knowledge and application of all produce-related
merchandising expectations
- Strong basic math skills and knowledge of computer programs
such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering
systems
- Ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey
enthusiasm
- Ability to work as part of a team, follow directions and
procedures, and maintain a clean and sanitary working
environment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
with a sense of urgency
- Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals
- 12+ months retail experience
